The following briefly profiles a few of our talented trainers:

For the over 30 years, Brian has focused his business, consulting, and training efforts on helping organizations become more effective in serving their customers, employees and shareholders. Brian is also on faculty with the Schulich Executive Education Centre at York University, where he conducts a number of open enrolment and in-house management training programs.
Brian’s work comprises customized, output-based consulting and training interventions; responsive, flexible service; and an ability to engage people at all levels of the organization. He has worked internationally in a wide variety of industries including: technology, financial services, aerospace, utilities, mining, retail and government.
Major clients include: AECL, IBM, Bank of Nova Scotia, Bell Canada, Bombardier, Enbridge, Inco, Messier-Dowty, Rogers, Stratford Festival and WSIB.

After obtaining his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Western Ontario in 1975, Rodger entered the pulp and paper industry to work on product development for Consolidated-Bathurst’s packaging group in Montreal. From 1979 to 1987, he was with the Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada where he held responsibilities in wood chemistry, mechanical pulping and paper physics. After a few years with Canfor Research and Development, where he worked on chlorine free bleaching and pulp refining, and a period as a Professor at the University of British Columbia, Rodger joined BCIT in 1999 to assume his position as Chair in Advanced Papermaking. Rodger has published many scientific articles and has been active with PAPTAC, serving on both the Research and Sulphite Committees.

Christine Bergeron has been with LTDC 1997 specializing in Microsoft Application software. Christine has delivered computer training to thousands of participants through workshops to corporate clients, continuing education and fast track programs. Participant feedback has been excellent, often sighting her ability to simplify and communicate complex tasks resulting in higher user productivity.
Christine holds certifications in MOUS (Microsoft Office User Specialist), ICDL (International Computer Drivers License).
Our welding Instructor is a graduate of George Brown College as a Welding Technician. He has over 10 years of industry experience as a Certified Structural Steel Plate Fitter. John has been teaching for the past six years in post-secondary programs such as the Mechanical Techniques, Manufacturing Engineering Technician, and the Welding Skills program with the Training & Development Centre. His ability to encourage and motivate students to succeed has been excellent.

Lloyd worked in the DuPont of Canada culture for forty years in operations, supervisor in human resources, supervisor in operations, manager in operations, and manager for health, safety, security and fire. He has a Masters of Business Administration with a major in Human Resources and is a Certified Safety Auditor in the DuPont organization.
He has received several safety awards for his contribution to safety technology. He has been chairperson of the I.A.P.A. for Central Ontario and Durham Region and a member of the Canadian Plastic Safety Association Team.
He has developed a number of systems and processes in different facilities over the years to reduce “On The Job Lost Time Injuries” as much as seventy per cent within a year. He continues to work with Companies that have a strong desire to move to a “State Of Safety Excellence”.

Terry Cox is president and founder of CAM Solutions. He is a general machinist with over 20 years of experience in facility support, R&D, and developing new product information. He has established an outstanding reputation in CNC programming, working to blueprints and close tolerances, creating new product prototypes, and machine repair.
Terry has taught machine trade programs for Invar, Deloro, Goodyear, Nortel, GT Machining, and the Mechanical Techniques and Manufacturer Operator Programs at Loyalist College.

Gary is founder and president of Volition Alliance Group inc., a management consulting and training firm. He has been developing people and organizations for the past 18 years.
Known for his energetic, leader-centered presentation style, Gary is at home whether keynote speaking to 1500 people, training seminars for 15-20 people or one-on-one management consulting.
To date, Gary has worked with hundreds of organizations and over 5000 individuals, in the areas of leadership development, team building, conflict resolution, communication skills and personal achievement coaching.
Recent clients include General Dynamics (formerly Computing Devices), Goodyear Canada, Eagle Manufacturing, Federal Government, Akwesasne Mohawk Nation, Invar Manufacturing, Loyalist College, Procter & Gamble, Dupont Canada, and GM Powertrain.

Michael is the President of Safety 1st, which offers a variety of training programs and services for the industrial, commercial, and corporate sectors that are designed to bring safety to the forefront and save valuable time and money.
Michael has worked extensively throughout the electronics, automotive, food and beverage manufacturing. He has an uncanny knack for understanding and deciphering the numerous laws and regulations as they apply to industrial settings (i.e. Occupational Health and Safety Act, C.S.A. Regulations, Labour Codes, etc.) This, coupled with a long standing teaching, training, and development background forms an unbeatable combination.
Michael’s training style appeals to all of the senses. His vibrant and energetic approach is motivational, inspiring, and educational. This aids in the understanding, retention, and application of the information that is presented.

Dave Hollis is a licenced Electrician and a Certified Engineering technologist and current President of D&D Electrocraft, a Quinte Area supplier of PLC’s and technical support for Siemens and other equipment manufacturers. Dave has over 20 years of practical and teaching experience in industry and has taught in post secondary and adult education environments throughout North America. Dave also developed a power module for the Canadian Space Agency used for Ceramic testing in zero gravity settings.
In addition to his PLC Installation and troubleshooting experience. Dave has trained many food processing and related manufacturers in Basic and Advanced PLC’s. Loyalist College is fortunate to have Dave join their teaching staff and look forward to a very lengthy partnership with him.

Birgit combines her knowledge of communication, her experience in mediation, and her passion for bringing “the best of ourselves” into relationships, even difficult ones involving disagreement, miscommunication, and intense emotions.
Trained as a mediator, facilitator, and workshop leader, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work. Her clients value her terrific sense of humour, her commitment to collaborative learning, and her deep appreciation for the variety of their perspectives and experiences. Workshop participants often comment on her ability to facilitate challenging situations with empathy and calm.
Birgit helps people manage all kinds of change “appreciatively”, coaching problem-solving teams and work groups, mediating conflict and delivering workshops focused on communication, facilitation techniques, self-management & conflict resolution, life-giving leadership, and quality customer service.

Glen is currently the Site Planning & Logistics Leader at Procter & Gamble Inc. in Belleville. He has worked for Procter & Gamble for 22 years in a variety of Engineering, Project Management, Maintenance and Operations roles in production plants in Canada, Germany and England.
Glen’s primary field of expertise is optimizing organizational designs and manufacturing systems in High Performance Work Organizations. He has implemented key TPM and Lean concepts since his formal TPM education began in Brussels, Belgium in 1992. He has more recently benefited from the personal coaching from the Japan Institute of Plant maintenance, the founders of the TPM movement.
Glen brings a strong background in practical applications and his humourous, down-to-earth style has earned him exceptionally high evaluations.

A people centered individual who excels in seeing others develop their gifts abilities and talents. Has 33 years of management & human resource experience in recruiting, training and supervising full time and volunteer staff. He brings an entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to discern organizational issues instinctively while developing and managing boards, committees and groups of community volunteers.
He seeks a challenge to promote best practices in an organization committed to making impact. Inspires confidence by presenting a professional presence and operating with integrity. Gary is a graduate of Tyndale University in Toronto and lives in the Stirling area with his wife, Denise (32 years married) a Marriage & Family Therapist with a private professional practice.

Edward A. (Ted) Maclean provides assessment, analysis, and solutions for his clients in planning and strategy, finance, and human resources.
Ted is a Certified Management Consultant (C.M.C.), with 22 years experience in management, consulting, and training. He has delivered numerous courses and seminars for groups of five to 100 people in financial analysis, business planning, quality, and human resources areas including human rights.
Ted has a well-developed understanding of human and group dynamics which, when combined with his innate sensitivity to individual personalities and preferences, allows him to manage group interaction effectively. He has an engaging and friendly style, making participants comfortable resulting in a high level of enthusiasm and participation from his groups. In addition, his broad business and organizational experience allows him to provide timely and specific help to his participants.

Steven has trained hundreds of people in the art and craft of clear writing (temperate precipitation event is rain and vitally challenged is dead). The participants in Steven’s groups have laughed, mended split infinitives, and become better writers for their organizations.
Steven has written for corporate and business clients such as Queen’s University, RBC Funds, CI Financial, Toronto Dominion Bank, CBC Radio, AT&T, Scotiabank, Canada Life, Empire Life, Bell Canada, Loyalist College, Canada Post, CIBC, Ontario Hydro, Lansing Buildall, and the Canadian Cancer Society. He is a member of the Editors’ Association of Canada.
His teaching experience includes the University of Toronto, Queen’s School of Business, and Queen’s School of English as well as Loyalist College. He has delivered more than 1,000 workshops to corporate clients such as Bell Canada, Domtar, Eagle’s Flight Creative Training Excellence, Inc., Addiction Research Foundation of Ontario, Novartis, and the County of Lennox and Addington.
Joe is Founder and President of The Industrial Learning Curve. Over the last 24 years, Joe has performed as Training Coordinator, Production Manager, Operations Manager, Plant Manager, and Human Resources Manager for large manufacturing firms such as Unilever, Pillsbury/ General Mills, Nestle Canada, and the Linamar Corporation.
Throughout his career, Joe has been heavily involved in the recruitment, assessment, and development of employees. He now focuses on what he does best: assisting his clients in HR Productivity, Job Classifications, Managing Difficult Employees, and Performance Management Essentials.

Mark is a respected and sought-after consultant and trainer. He has proven his value to countless individuals and teams in search of effectiveness and balance. He specializes in individual and corporate leadership, helping leaders and teams rise above the issues that impede creativity and growth.
Mark has led major organizational change initiatives in the educational sector, increased empowerment and built effective teams in the pulp and paper industry, rolled out learning and career resilience processes in the automotive industry. With his mastery of English and French, he provides fully bilingual services across Canada and in the U.S.

Ms. O’Coin is the Principal of O’COIN QUALITY CONSULTING SERVICES (OQCS).
Ms. O’Coin is a Registered ISO 9000 Consultant, and has over 15 years of experience specializing in the design, development, implementation and auditing of ISO Quality Management Systems. With a background in Human Resource Development, Ms. O’Coin also assists companies in the design and implementation of Competency Based Training and Knowledge Management Systems.
Ms. O’Coin is a Certified ISO 9000 Internal Auditor and has worked with numerous clients in performing objective assessments and identifying process improvements and continuous improvements relative to the ISO 9000 International Quality Standards. She has delivered numerous seminars and workshops related to ISO 9000, Internal Auditing, Documentation Principles, Process Improvement and Project Management.
Ms. O’Coin has assisted several companies in designing, developing, implementing, auditing and maintaining their ISO Quality Management Systems. Ms. O’Coin has previous experience working in the medical device manufacturing and textile industries. She is familiar with the requirements of both the ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003 Quality Management Standards.
Ms. O’Coin is a long standing member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the Manitoba Quality Network (QNET).

Sal is bilingual and has over thirteen years of experience in management and the past fifteen years in the field of consulting, facilitating, and teaching of adults.
He has worked with several educational institutions, training partners, multi-national organizations, and government departments in North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Sal consults and trains on a variety of topics including project management, leadership, team building, and personal Development. He is a qualified lead auditor of the ISO 900, QS-9000, and ISO 14000 International Standards and is trained as a Six Sigma Black Belt. He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course and CFP Requirements and conducts workshops on Personal and Professional Financial Planning as well as Retirement Workshops with other qualified professionals.
His client list includes General Electric, Goodyear, Black & Decker, Heinz Foods, Canadian Forces Base Trenton (8 Wing), NORTEL, HRDC, CCRA, CCMD, RCMP and the Canadian Police College.

Paula is an associate in the Volition Alliance Group. She specializes in health and wellness, stress management, communications, human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and nutrition.
Paula is a former health club fitness co-coordinator where she designed and implemented programs aimed at achieving a well-balanced lifestyle. Paula has designed and delivered numerous workshops and seminars in the following topic areas: ergonomic training (including an analysis of specific working conditions to identify potential hazards and possible solutions), fitness seminars, nutritional instruction, preventive injury (proper lifting techniques, effective stretching techniques), stress management, coping with shift work, ergonomics, interpersonal communications, personal effectiveness, and team skills.
Paula has earned a degree in Physical Education from the University of Ottawa and, more recently, received her Personality Dimensions Facilitator Certification.

Eric Tippelt is an automation specialist, who has worked with many of the top global automation manufactures and distributors as a technical specialist and trainer. Eric has over 25 years of practical and teaching experience in industry, and has taught in post secondary and adult education environments throughout North America.
In addition to his manufacturer experience he has managed his own industrial maintenance and panel building company. Eric has extensive experience in the automotive, automotive parts industries, as well as process, aggregate and entertainment industries. . Loyalist College is fortunate to have Eric join their teaching staff and look forward to a very lengthy partnership with him.

Dave Tosh has worked with LTDC since 1993. His experience includes developing and evaluating training programs for the classroom and online, plus he has excellent presentation skills with a clear and professional manner. Dave is certified to teach MOS, ICDL, and IC3 courseware, and he is also a Testing Administrator for ICDL, MOUS, and IC3 exams.

As a teacher and as a facilitator, Sandra has a passion to see individuals and groups flourish.
Sandra helps participants make insightful discoveries about themselves and others. In enjoyable, interactive sessions, she equips people to recognize and overcome obstacles to progress both in their personal and work-life, in relationships and communication, by developing achievable action plans with them.
She has led individual and group-based exploration of personality, career orientation, team-building and personal effectiveness in business, educational and public sectors. Sandra is recognized for her strong facilitation skills coupled with her mastery of several renowned psychometric instruments. She is certified for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator I & II, Life Style Inventory, Personality Dimensions and Appreciative Inquiry.
